Resolutions of the Gold Coast City-Dubai Chamber of Commerce
  • Whilst personal interaction is key, with periodic gatherings to be held, as much communication should be done by electronic means for speed and cost efficiency and a suitable web-site established
  • Negotiate and settle a formal MOU with Dubai Chamber of Commerce
  • Pull together a mission for March 2005 to coincide with the Dubai Boat Show and running of the Dubai Cup
  • Set objectives so that the Chamber would be a facilitator and introduction organ for business people from either City interested in accessing the market and point of reference to assist business people form meaningful commercial connections in each market
  • Gold Coast Members would be drawn from established business leaders representing the diversity of the City's service and product capacity
  • An initial membership fee of AUD $1200 per entity, which will include on-ground logistic expenses for the March mission and two catered information/business/networking functions locally during calendar 2005
  • Membership would be by invitation following consideration of an expression of interest from applicant parties. Reference and consideration would be given to an existing member already from a similar industry to ensure their meaningful ROI and to avoid conflict, duplication or an over-concentration in one field or industry sector.
  • A charter and set of rules be drawn up to encapsulate the spirit and intents of the organisation including that each member entity is entitled to a nominee and have one vote on all management and policy matters and the benefits of membership, other than voting, be extended to a second representative of the member entity.
  • Appropriate service companies/incorporated vehicles established to accommodate the Chamber's activities, as and when required
  • Bona fide businesses based in Dubai would have full reciprocal rights, other than voting rights, and be rendered every practicable assistance by the Chamber and its membership, initially on a no cost basis, subject to review.
  • Ms Angela Newstead, a known Chamber of Commerce executive, be appointed on a fee for service basis to provide the steering committee and membership administrative support.
